Terror of The Sea Necklace

via day-lab.com

I dig the way that this simple, black sillouette has an almost tribal-tat feel. Unique piece in the sea of look-alike cute silver charms I've been swimming in.

Also, bonus:

Awww, it's going down like Chinatown.

Yes, ninjas are japanese. Got it.

Grown Folks: Octo Cocktail Ring

via amazon.com

Listed under "Grown Folks" not so much for elegant styling, but the fact that it costs a MONTH'S RENT for this gold and diamond ring.

Ain't that much of a cephalophan.

It Came From Esty: Octo Pendant

via Etsy.com

Nice to see something that isn't on the Hello Octo cutey-cute tip. I like the antiqued brass against the glass-- almost reminds me of chinese jade in a gold setting. I don't think I could pull this off. It's a matter of scale. I flash back immediately to a college friend of a friend who could really pull of these 2"+ ethnic pendants-- green olmec heads on red ribbon, for instance-- because everything about here was grand. Which is to say sista had cleavage for days. Nothing could overwhelm those girls.

Yah. So off topic. But such a cool piece, ne?

Poulpe Pulps: Vintage Octopus Covers!

via Pouple Pulps

Oooh! I debated going to town with a retro-style header for this site (right now its just an acrylic painting I made) but if I do a redesign this site is chock full of inspiration. ASTOUNDING!

Grown Folks: Squid Earrings

via thebigzoo.com

I've noticed that cephalophanalia more often falls into the following categories: Hello Octo (super cute), Lovecraftian-Cthulu Horrorfest, and Graphic (semi-realistic sillouetting). These expensive babies almost fall into the latter-- a stylized impression of a ceph, which you could feasibly wear as a 30 yr old and not feel like a 13 yr old.

Ooh! Stuffed Cthulu!

Okay, not really from the Lovecraft Toyline, but giving this to a kid is borderline abuse. I've seen a 40" version at the local aquarium gift shop. That gave ME the heebs and the jeebs.

This entry title works really well sung to Heart's "Baracuda".

Charming lil' poster, love the naive style. Ain't museum worthy, but again,
people, it's either this, boring photography, or
craptastical fantasy airbrush illustrations.

8 Gold Fingaaaaas

Apologies to Shirley Bassey

Via Netaya Jewelry
As cute as this is, I scratch my head @ the target demo for this item. Perhaps the same individuals who'd by this blingasmic monstrosity. And seeing as I'm not an ex-model living off hiphop mogul sugar daddy, I ain't about to dump $60 on this necklace.

...and yes, there's only five tentacles. For $60 I demand all eight, not this mutant.

Surely someone will figure how to scale this up for a grown woman's head. Not like any grown woman would wear this.

In public.

Ahem.

Also, bonus points for merging my two fav things: cats and squid. Chocolate and peanut butter, people!

Welcome to cephalophanlia, the premiere site for all you cephalophans (tm), i.e. cephalopod fans. Well, okay, let's be frank: "Hello!" to the two people who've found this page, and apologies to all those who might want to find this page in the future, but couldn't correctly spell that damn blog name. It'll haunt me, I know. That and not building with wordpress. BUT I digress...

Coming soon: items to tempt you w/ their tentacularity!
